Get a glimpse at the Tri-Cities' outstanding young art talent at the Emerging Talent XVI show, featuring works by Grade 12 students from throughout School District 43. This year about 40 students - who are set to continue their art studies at prestigious schools here and abroad - are participating in the show in a variety of media, at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) until Feb. 18.

GET WILD

Looking to lighten up your weekend? Then check out Henry & Alice: Into the Wild, playing until Saturday night at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way). This Arts Club Theatre Company On Tour presentation catches up with the middle-aged couple as they examine their relationship amidst the trials and tribulations of camping. HAPPY NEW YEAR

Celebrate the Chinese New Year - it's the Year of the Snake - at Henderson Place Mall (1163 Pinetree Way). From noon to 5 p.m. there will be live performances, exhibits, a lucky draw every hour and loads of activities for kids like balloon twisting, a bouncy castle and colouring. Admission is free.

CARIBBEAN SUN

We could all use a bit of tropical bliss right about now, so it's a good thing Cedar Drive elementary (3150 Cedar Dr., PoCo) is hosting a Crazy Caribbean Carnival from noon to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome for games, prizes, food, prizes and a silent auction. TEEN TRILOGY

Teens can check into the Terry Fox Library (2470 Mary Hill Rd.) this weekend for the start of a monthly movie trilogy running the first Saturday of each month. Playing this afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. is Batman Begins (PG), followed by The Dark Knight (March 2) and The Dark Night Rises (April 6). Register by calling 604-927-7999.

HOCKEY NIGHT

The Port Moody Panthers take on the Mission City Outlaws in a regular season game tonight at the Port Moody Arena (300 Ioco Rd.). Mission stands just above the Panthers in the Pacific Junior Hockey League, with PoMo coming off Thursday's game against the North Van Wolf Pack. The puck drops at 7:45 p.m.
