Support graduates of Emily Carr University of Art + Design as they open a new group show at 7 p.m. at the Gallery Bistro (2411 Clarke St.) in Port Moody. The show, titled Making a Scene, runs until Aug. 16 and includes work from artists Gayle Arnold, Jennifer Chernecki, Emily Boulton and Matthew Knockaert - all of whom have connections to the Tri-Cities. YOUTH FEST

The third annual Port Moody Youth ArtsFest features a number of acts from young artists this weekend. At the Inlet Theatre tonight are Deanna's Lovers, Pistolfish, Tiana Jung, Amanda Lau, Alison Kim, Some Things Never Change, Kristen Kwong, Ivy Pomerantz, Sabrina Campbell and Roy Marshall, Mink Borowornsenee, and The Stairwell. BABE, JIM

R&B, country, rock, blues and soul will be served up tonight and Saturday by Babe Gurr and Jim Byrnes for Evergreen Cultural Centre's Music on the Grill summer series. The BBQ is followed with a 8 p.m. show in the Coquitlam theatre. Tickets are $52 for the dinner and concert, or $32 for the concert only (Saturday's dinner option is already sold out). ART, PHOTOS

With the annual rose show happening, Dogwood Pavilion will be a busy place this weekend as the Coquitlam Art Club and the Dogwood Photography Club will also show and sell their works, too. The art club's event in the adjoining Centennial Pavilion is on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the photo display runs both days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. YOUTH FEST REDUX

The Inlet Theatre has another round of dance and music performances for the second night of the Port Moody Youth ArtsFest. Tonight are Cut Losses, Bluesmoke, Jennifer Chen and Kristyn Chan, Amanda Spinosoa and Ki-eun Peck, Auschwitz (film), Jacob Gebrewold, Some Things Never Change, Hans Lee, Mikahalva, Edward Qiu and Caufield School of Dance.
