POCO 100th LAUNCH
Port Coquitlam officially launches its centennial year festivities with a free community party at the PoCo recreation complex (2150 Wilson Ave.). Bring your skates (or rent them) for the free public skate, with live entertainment from the Timebenders, who promise 50 years of musical hits and 22 costume changes. Coquitlam: Kinsmen Club/1st Kinsmen Scout Group runs Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Town Centre Stadium Parking lot; Kinsmen Club/Centennial Music Department runs Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Centennial secondary (570 Poirier St.); Friends of Mundy Park runs Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mundy Park gravel lot off Hillcrest Avenue; Scouts Fracophones de Maillardville runs Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Canadian Tire (1200 Sequin Dr., near Ikea).
Port Coquitlam: Cedar Drive elementary (3150 Cedar Dr.) runs Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot; Port Coquitlam Fire Hall #1 (1725 Broadway St.) runs Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lights, strands and styrofoam also collected) or call 604-927-5405 to arrange for tree pick-up (minimum $10), proceeds go to BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund; Art Knapp's (1300 Dominion Ave.) accepts trees daily until Jan. 20, with proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Port Moody: Port Moody Fire Hall #1 (200 Ioco Rd.) Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for minimum $5 donation. Coffee, hot chocolate and vehicle vacuuming available; proceeds go to BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund.
