The Port Moody Film Society presents a spy thriller for its October offering. Farewell (France, 2009) stars Diane Kruger, Willem Dafoe and Guillaume Canet and tells the true-life story of French intelligence personnel who alert the United States about a Soviet spy operation during the Cold War. VAMPROV
Second Storey Theatre (201- 2550 Shaughnessy St., Port Coquitlam) will host Vamprov - vampires versus humans - on Friday and Saturday nights this month. Coquitlam's Stage 43 Theatrical Society launches its new season with a psychological thriller, titled Dead Serious. SPOOKY IOCO
Rebel Haunt Theatre presents Hometown, an interactive play set in the 1930s, at 1 and 3 p.m. as part of the Ioco Days Festival that celebrates the townsite. And on Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m., bring out the family for Ioco Ghost Town Days to travel in an Model-A car or ride a pony. Kids can also decorate a pumpkin, get their faces painted and play carnival games while adults enjoy the music from a bluegrass band and barbershop quartet. The Port Moody Heritage Society event, sponsored in part by Canadian Heritage, runs at Ioco Road and 1st Avenue on both days. The cost is by donation.
