FIRE FIGHTER BREKKIE

The Port Moody fire fighters host a pancake breakfast, complete with sausages, coffee and juice at hall (100 Newport Dr.) today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to noon. Proceeds go to Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation and Crossroads Hospice.

SPIKE KICK OFF

Celebrate 37 years of Golden Spike Days fun at PoMo's Rocky Point Park through July 1. The action-packed fun includes a new road hockey tournament (June 29 and 30, proceeds go to KidSport) and family favourites like gold panning with Yukon Dan, the lively Can Can Dancers, Inlet Ecological Boat Tours and boat building, hat making and a bouncy castle. Hungry Spike-goers can nosh on food from around the world. Live music and entertainment kicks off at 11 a.m. today and continues through to 8 p.m. July 1. Visit www.goldenspike.ca.

TRAINS & LEGO

The PoMo Station Museum (2734 Murray St.) looks at the city's past (a 1930s model of Clarke Street) and future (a modern Lego display) today starting at 10 a.m. Visit portmoodymuseum.org.

PCT OPEN HOUSE

Get up close to those big yellow piles of sulphur in Burrard Inlet - and enjoy a barbecue, kids' entertainment and live music - at the Pacific Coast Terminals open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Take a site tour and hop on board a CP train. INLET RUN

Strap on those sneakers and get set to trod the Golden Spike Days Inlet Run and Walk - there are 5k and 10k routes - leaving from the Rocky Point Park bandshell at 9 a.m. Registration is $30, available online or at 8 a.m. on race day. HAPPY CANADA DAY

Celebrate the nation's birthday - we're 146 this year - with festivities planned throughout the Tri-Cities. In Coquitlam, Town Centre Park comes alive from noon onwards with loads of family entertainment on several stages and plenty of food to enjoy; headliner The Fab Foursome takes the stage at 9 p.m., followed by a fireworks show over Lafarge Lake. In PoCo head to Lions Park from 8 to 11:30 a.m. for a pancake breakfast and fishing derby, followed by music, a salmon barbecue and more at Castle Park from noon to dusk; evening entertainment starts at 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks show by PoCo Fire/Rescue. Port Moody celebrates the milestone as part of its Golden Spike festivities at Rocky Point Park, with entertainment starting at 11 a.m. and a ceremony at 1 p.m., followed by more music and events. Parking is limited at each venue so be sure to plan ahead.

CANADA DAY CHOIR

Join the Glen Pine Seniors as they celebrate Canada Day with their Mandarin Choir. Festivities get underway at 5 p.m. at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam).
