THREE GENERATIONS
Drop by the Leigh Square Community Arts Village to see an exhibit by three generations of the same family: Coquitlam residents Karin Vengshoel and her dad, Peter, and Karin's late grandfather, Arne Venghshoel, titled Generasjoner/Generations: A Multigenerational Retrospective of Works. The tapestries and carvings celebrate the family's Norwegian-Canadian roots.
BIKE FANS
Motorbike enthusiasts will want to head east this weekend, to the Vancouver Motorcycle Show that will feature Tri-City resident Gil Yarrow, 81. He'll be showing off his restored 1960 Super Rocket. BANNER PAINTING
Port Moody's annual Community Banner Painting Festival will see artists and volunteers bringing 30 designs to life at PoMo city hall (100 Newport Dr.).today and tomorrow, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The finished works will be on display until Jan. 30 before they're installed on PoMo streets.
ROBBIE BURNS
All hail the haggis at the Place des Arts' (1120 Brunette Ave.) celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns. Guests will enjoy a traditional Scottish dinner of roast beef and a cash bar with Scotch and UK beers, followed by a concert with Blackthorn. EDIBLE ART
Head to Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam) to check out the intricate pieces of tapestry in Edible Art, a fibre arts exhibit by the Tapestry Weavers Interest Group (TWIGS) and Tapestry Weavers from Vancouver Island (TAPIS). The show's theme is based on favourite recipes, with each hand-woven artwork relating to a much-loved - and mouth-watering - dish.
