PRO-D DAY?

This was supposed to have been the first Pro-D day of the school year but now looks to be the last day of kids' extended summer. If you're looking for ways to keep your young ones busy the Terry Fox Library (2470 Mary Hill Rd., PoCo) is offering a free screening of The Lego Movie from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and at Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam) kids in kindergarten to Grade 5 can take part in pop art-themed arts camps running from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. To register, call 604-664-1636 or visit placedesarts.ca.

FILM FEST

St. Andrew's United Church (2318 St. Johns St., PoMo) hosts a social justice evening starting at 7:30 p.m. called Creating a Better World, featuring three videos about what people are doing to make the world a better place, followed by a discussion. Call 604-939-5513 for more information.

Walk for shin

Join in the first annual Walk for Shin, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of Shin Noh, and raise awareness for Alzheimer's and the citizen Silver Alert program. GIRLS' HOCKEY

Got a girl who's keen to try sending slap shots to the back of the net? Head to the Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St., Coquitlam) for a free "try hockey" event from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The free event is open to kids and teens who are welcome to bring their friends and their own gear or try out the free equipment and skates at the rink. FUNNY STRIPPERS

It's not what you think - it's the Comic Strippers, and they're at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) tonight to show off their (above the waist) "farmers' tans," and deliver some seriously funny material. TREE DAYS

TD Tree Days will be greening up the Tri-Cities and is inviting everyone to join in the horticultural fun. They'll be at Marguerite Park (1480 Marguerite St., Coquitlam) today from 9 a.m. to noon to plant more than 400 trees and shrubs, so grab your family and friends for this hands-on gig. WALK, RUN & ROLL FOR RETT

The whole family can get in on this fundraising drive for Rett Syndrome and the families affected by it.
