HIKES WITH LI'L TIKES

Metro Vancouver's guided hikes for new parents and their babies take participants through Minnekhada and Belcarra Regional Parks each Friday through to June 7. Parents should bring their own carrier and be able to carry their baby for at least 90 minutes. Cost is $30/series; register at 604-432-6359 and quote barcode 4821. Hikes run from 10:30 a.m. to noon. LOST AND FOUND

Artist Shari Pratt shows a series of her mixed media portraits at Coquitlam's Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave.). Inspired after she discovered a collection of old photos at an antique store, her travels and her vagabond childhood, the exhibit showcases Pratt's theme of "here today, gone tomorrow." COLOUR EXPLOSION

Stay on the art track and head over to the Leigh Square Community Arts Village (2253 Leigh Sq.), where exhibits by two abstract artists are on display. DIX IN TOWN

Meet Adrian Dix, the leader of the BC New Democrats, when he swings through the Tri-Cities to open two campaign offices. He'll be at Coquitlam-Maillardville candidate Selina Robinson's office (901A Lougheed Hwy., Coquitlam) at about 2:30 p.m.; the opening runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Coquitlam-Burke Mountain candidate Chris Wilson's office (105-2733 Barnet Hwy., Coquitlam) welcomes Dix at 3:30 p.m.

MAKE A SPLASH

School District 43 students present a benefit concert at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam), featuring local bands and solo musicians such as Gentleman's Vibe, Gio Levy, Phynest & Lozy and more. The concert, as well as a variety of raffle prizes up for grabs, will raise money to build a well for an underprivileged community in Kenya. HISTORY AT WORK

Get a glimpse of city business, circa 1913, at Port Moody's commemorative council meeting at the Kyle Centre (125 Kyle St.) from 12:45 to 2 p.m. Today's council members will be arriving in vintage cars and, dressed in period costume, they'll re-enact the city's first council meeting held on April 7, 1913. An arts gathering and tea follows, as well as an antique car display and historical wine display by Andrew Peller Ltd.

CREATIVE CAFE

The Minnekhada Park Association presents Creative Cafe from 1 to 4 p.m. The whole family can enjoy this event in the park, where kids of all ages can check out fun learning activities at the open house. Visit www.minnekhada.ca for more information.

LANGUAGE OF LOVE
