PEACE IN ART

While in the city hall area, check out the original paintings by hometown resident Yasuo Araki at the Port Moody Public Library (100 Newport Dr.). Araki, a Japanese-Canadian who lived through the Second World War bombings in his native Yamanashi, near Tokyo, has 25 acrylic works showing images of peace. Visit library.portmoody.ca.

The Tri-City Wordsmiths, a new writing group, holds its second meeting at the Coquitlam Public Library (575 Poirier St.) from 2 to 4 p.m. Speaker Daryl R. Stennett, a Sunshine Coast author who recently published Behind The Steam: The Inside Story of the Gastown Steam Clock, will talk about his experience as a self-published author as well as read from his book and sign copies.
