YOUTH ARTS

Support the young talent in our community at the second annual Port Moody Youth Arts Festival, a centennial event. Tonight, the show opens at 6 p.m. at city hall (100 Newport Dr.) with emcee Lucy Shen introducing Deanna's Lovers (rock band); Prevailing Westerlies (acoustic band); Julia Montgomery (singer); Bad Seed Productions (film); A Rainy Day Play (actors); and Forfeit the Anchor (rock band). MOVIE NIGHT

Fold out the lawn chair or bundle up in a blanket - and apply the bug spray - for the city of Port Coquitlam's second summer showing as part of Cinema Under the Stars. The 26-ft. screen will be up at 9 p.m. at Sun Valley Park (off Cedar Drive) for Wreck It Ralph, a 2012 animated flick about a video game villain who wants to be a hero. NICE WHEELS

Check out the annual custom car show and family day at Cooper's Foods (1430 Prairie Ave.) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Play spin the wheel for prizes and grab some hot dogs. Proceeds go to support the BC Children's Hospital.

FOR THE KIDS

Help out children who have lost a loved one at a fundraiser for the Charlene Reaveley Children's Charity Society (CRCCS). The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. at Planet Organic (10-2755 Lougheed Hwy., Port Coquitlam). There will be food, a raffle draw and information about the charity, which is named after a Coquitlam mother of four who was killed in a car accident in 2011. Visit crccs.ca.
