Tri-City businesses are coming together to support local food banks in the wake of Hunger Week.
With last week's Hunger Awareness Week reminding Canadians that some people don't get enough food to eat, two businesses have stepped up to support Share Family and Community Services.
Pacific Liquor is celebrating its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 10 at Westwood Village Mall (1410 Parkway Avenue, Coquitlam) by donating 10% of its sales to Share.
Meanwhile, Philip Pires of Big Phil's Rubbish removal is donating 10% of sales for the entire month of October to purchase food for Share's food bank.
Valerie Hutton, director of development for Share is grateful for the community response to the need.
“We always welcome community and corporate support of our charity,” Hutton stated in a press release.
Meanwhile Pacific Liquor's Mike McKee, community outreach partner at Pacific Liquor is inviting everyone to attend the opening of the new store.
