Try Nordic walking at Dogwood Pavilion

If you're an older adult who enjoys walking, you might want to try Nordic walking.

If you're an older adult who enjoys walking, you might want to try Nordic walking.

Using specialized poles with rubber-cushioned foot tips that reduce stress to your hips, knees and ankle joints, you can combine the aerobic and strength-building benefits of cross-country skiing, burning up to 28% more calories, without having to walk faster.

If you would like to learn more about Nordic walking, you can join instructor Cheryl Lebrun at Dogwood Pavilion on four consecutive Wednesdays, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., starting May 9. The sessions will be held outside rain or shine, so participants should come prepared to walk in bright-coloured clothing. Poles are provided and the fee is $22; pre-registration is required.

To register and for more information, call 604-927-6098.
