An information session on high-dose flu shots for seniors will be held Thursday, Oct. 12 from 1-2 p.m. at the Coquitlam Public Library.

With flu season just around the corner, members of the Tri-Cities Seniors Planning Network are organizing a vaccine information session for seniors.

It will be held Thursday, Oct. 12 from 1-2 p.m. at the Coquitlam Public Library, City Centre Branch, Room 137.

The speaker will be Dr. Janet McElhaney, a geriatrician who specializes in influenza research.She will be discussing the benefits of a high dose flu vaccine for seniors over 65 years of age.

The dose has four times the antigen of a regular flu shot and is reportedly better able to produce a stronger immune response to the flu for seniors.
