A large crowd is expected tomorrow to celebrate the life and legacy of Jacques-André Larrivée, a popular French Immersion teacher at Riverside secondary.

Larrivée had retired and was visiting Japan when he died in late October of heart failure

Students and colleagues remember Larrivée, as an energetic, dedicated and caring teacher who guided his students to become the best they could be.

"He was creative, demanding, had, a positive attitude, a lively wit, was proud of his heritage and was steadfast in his support of the Montréal Canadiens!" according to a statement from a staff member.

Larrivée was one of the original teaching staff when Riverside opened its doors in September, 1996.

A walk from Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam's Town Centre Park will take place Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life at Riverside secondary at 2:30 p.m.
