From Yogi to Smokey, Winnie to Fozzie, many Tri-City residents have grown up with cute talking bears.
But what do you do when you see a real bear on the trail?
You can learn how to stay safe while hiking in local parks by joining a Metro Vancouver park interpreter this Saturday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to noon for a session about bears. Participants will learn about their sensitive noses on a short walk through the rainforest. They'll examine real claws and teeth, find out what bruins like to eat and leave feeling confident about what to do when they see a real bear.
This session is for people six years and older and is co-sponsored by Coquitlam Parks, Recreation and Culture Services. Participants meet at the Quarry Road parking lot.
Registration is required by calling 604-927-4386. Cost is $8 per person.
