Not all classical music is of the Mozart and Beethoven variety.
Coquitlam Public Library is hosting an Indian classical vocal concert on Saturday with Pandit Jasraj School of Music Foundation. The performance runs from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Nancy Bennett Room of the library's Poirier branch, located at 575 Poirier St.
The concert features students of Guru Sangeet Martand Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj ji as well as principal Asha Lohia, accompanied by local tabla player and teacher Monish Chakraborti. The Pandit Jasraj School of Music Foundation fosters the preservation, growth, and teaching of Indian classical music in the traditional style of Mewati Gharana.
