Your junk could help local seniors

Items that are no longer useful to you can still do some good for others at next month's Community Volunteer Services for Seniors garage sale.

Items that are no longer useful to you can still do some good for others at next month's Community Volunteer Services for Seniors garage sale.

The annual event raises money for CVSS, which helps the Tri-Cities' oldest citizens by providing programs such as a shop-by-phone grocery service, visiting and telephone reassurance programs for isolated or homebound seniors, and information about and referrals to other resources for the elderly.

While the sale runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Wilson Centre (2150 Wilson Ave., Port Coquitlam), donations will be accepted the day before.

All donations can be dropped off at Wilson Centre on Friday, June 14 between 3 and 6:30 p.m. CVSS will accept furniture in good repair and clean condition as well as housewares, antiques, books, tools, electronics, plants, children's items and more. It will not accept clothing, footwear, bedding, exercise equipment or encyclopedias.
