NI HAO!

Kids ages two to five and their caregivers can celebrate Lunar New Year with a special storytime at the City Centre branch of the Coquitlam Public Library (1175 Pinetree Way). From 10:30 to 11 a.m., families can hear stories, songs and rhymes to mark the Year of the Tiger that began Feb. 1. The event will be held in rooms 136 and 137. Registration isn’t required; however, youth and adults must show proof of vaccination and ID, and wear a mask.

GRIZZLIES VS EXPRESS

Catch the Coquitlam Express players, under head coach Brandon Shaw, as they battle the Victoria Grizzlies at the Palace in Coquitlam. The game at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St., Coquitlam) starts at 7 p.m.

GET IT FIXED

The monthly Repair Café is back to help you get your small broken items fixed, instead of being tossed in the landfill. Volunteers are on hand to help you with your alarm clocks, jewelry pieces and other household wares in need of TLC — at no cost. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Port Coquitlam Centennial, the café runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City of Port Coquitlam’s public works yard (1737 Broadway St.) next to Firehall 1.

Sunday, Feb. 6

BE GONE WEEDS!

Help the City of Port Moody clear out invasive plants along the Shoreline Trail between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Slip on your boots and jacket to pull the plants — rain or shine. Gloves, eye protection and tools will be provided by the city’s environment and parks department; bring your own water and snacks, and meet at the railway crossing west of Trasolini Field and the recreation complex (300 Ioco Rd.).

FAMILY FUN

It’s Family Day at PdA (aka Place des Arts) where you can tour the Maillardville hub to see the new exhibitions then create a masterpiece of your own to replicate the artwork on the walls. There are two sessions: 2 to 2:45 p.m., and 3 to 3:45 p.m. Admission is free; however, registration is required via Eventbrite.ca. Proof of vaccination and masks are mandatory.
