BC Youth Week takes place May 1 to 7 and the city of Coquitlam has several events planned to celebrate the positive contributions that youth make to the community.
• Tomorrow (Saturday) from 6 to 8 p.m., there will be a Youth Week kick-off event that includes free food and music at the Landing Youth Centre in Pinetree community centre (1260 Pinetree Way).
• On May 6 from 4 to 6 p.m., there bubble ball soccer tournament played in giant inflatable balls at the Centennial oval (585 Poirier St.), across the street from Centennial secondary school. The tournament is open to youth aged 14 to 18 and costs $25 per team to participate.
• On May 6 from 7 to 10 p.m., there will be a benefit concert celebrating youth bands, musicians and entertainers in the Tri-Cities, hosted by Coquitlam Youth Council at Pinetree secondary (3000 Pinewood Ave.). Minimum $2 donation at the door in support of RainCity Housing Society’s homeless shelter in Coquitlam.
