COQUITLAM

Middle Schoolers ONLY Summer Reading Club: Review books, win prizes it's as easy as 1, 2, 3 - but only for students who have just finished Grade 5, 6, 7 or 8. Starting on Monday, June 17, you can register in person at the Ask-Me desk at the City Centre branch or the Information desk at Poirier. This program runs until the end of August. Questions? Learning Canadian Culture: In the latest instalment of a series of free workshops for people who are new to Canada, participants on Monday, June 10 (10:30 a.m. to noon, City Centre branch, Room 127), will learn about special occasions they may be invited to attend, including: weddings, funerals, graduations, cocktail parties, dinner parties, bridal showers, baby showers, new home showers, potluck dinners, garage sales and bottle drives. Sandra Martins, museum coordinator of Mackin House Museum in Coquitlam, will present. PORT MOODY

Adult Learners Book Club (drop-in): The Adult Learners Book Club meets once a month to talk about a book written in simple language. On June 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the book Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo will be discussed. Readers have said this adventure of a young man stranded on a desert island is a real page turner. Join librarians for this opportunity to read more, practise English conversation and make new friends. All adult learners, including ESL, are welcome.

Digital magazines: Get online access to digital versions of your favourite print magazines through Port Moody Public Library's subscription to the Zinio service. You can use your PMPL card to download hundreds of American and Canadian magazines to your computer or your Apple, Android or Windows 8 mobile device. Try it out at library.portmoody.ca under "Digital Content."

First Nations stories: Celebrate National Aboriginal Day at Terry Fox Library with a special Saturday Storytime with guest storyteller Lorre Gibson. Kids and parents can hear Gibson's Aboriginal stories and see her First Nations artifacts and regalia. The special storytime runs from 11 to 11:30 a.m. next Saturday, June 15.
