Heads Up: An Introduction to Brain Health: Healthy aging is important for everyone and it is essential not to forget the health of your brain. Protect and maintain your brain by learning strategies and setting goals for improving the health of your mind, body and spirit at an education session presented by the Alzheimer Society of BC on Oct. 9, 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Nancy Bennett Room of the Poirier branch. Registration is required; to reserve your spot, leave a message at 604-937-4155.

Place Maillard storytimes: Join librarians for free storytimes at the family drop-in program at Place Maillard community centre. Share songs, rhymes, bounces and stories with your children from birth to five years. Sessions will run alternating Mondays and Wednesdays (program started Sept. 17) from 10:55 to 11:15 a.m. Place Maillard is located at 1200 Cartier Ave. in Coquitlam. Info: 604-933-6166.

Share your story: Starting Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., PMPL invites older adults to share a bit of their life story in a free eight-week digital storytelling workshop. Learn about script writing and storyboard creation as well as how to add the music, sounds and photos that help bring your story to life. Presented in partnership with Simon Fraser University. Adult Learners book club: Are you looking for a fun, social place to discuss easy books and improve your reading skills? The Adult Learners book discussion group is perfect for new readers of English. All adult learners, including ESL, are welcome to join this friendly multicultural group.
