COQUITLAM

Holiday hours: CPL closes early at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 31 - Christmas and New Years eves - and is closed Dec. 25, 26 and 27 as well as Jan. 1 and 2.

Play and Learn Events at Coquitlam Centre are held the last Wednesday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Join library staff at the mall for storytimes, songs and crafts. Play and Learn is held near the Toy Jungle, in front of London Drugs. No registration is required for this free program - just drop-in.

Muzzy Languages: Would your children like to learn English, French, Spanish, German or Italian? Try Muzzy Languages. Use your library card to log in to the CPL database page at www.library.coquitlam.bc.ca and click Muzzy Languages to start learning.

Winter and spring program guide: Make sure you drop by Terry Fox Library to pick up your copy of the winter and spring program guide. In it, you'll find out what's on at PoCo's library from January to May 2012 and learn more about free services.

Updated daily, this online resource allows you to search local, national and international news, including editorials, reviews, obituaries and more. Browse by newspaper title, issue or topic. Find the news you need with free access to Canadian Newsstand provided with your library card. Drop by the library any time for a demonstration.

Enjoy some downtime during the holidays: Get into the holiday spirit with some great Christmas fiction at PMPL. Try a classic such as A Christmas Carol, A Child's Christmas in Wales or perhaps some romance by Debbie Macomber, Lois Battle or everyone's favourite shopaholic, Sophie Kinsella. PoMo library also has a variety of classic Christmas films on DVD: A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life or something for the young and young at heart: A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Dora the Explorer, Polar Express, Alvin and the Chipmunks and more.

Share English practice drop-in groups for adults: Want to improve your English? Here is the answer. Come to the library's ParkLane Room on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join other English learners in this free program put on by Share Family and Community Services. You will get to practise English, make friends and find out about your community. This group will continue to meet during the holidays on Dec. 23 and 30.
