Learn the basics of the internet and be surfing in no time. Registration is required for this free program, which runs from 10 to 11 a.m. next Wednesday, Sept. 25, as space is limited; call the reference desk at 604-937-4144 to register.

Philosophers' Cafe - Death: On Thursday, Oct. 10 from 7 to 8:45 p.m., the City Centre branch will host a Philosophers' Cafe on the subject of death. Does it scare you or do you embrace it? How would your perception of life change if you changed your beliefs about death? These questions and others will be discussed with the guidance of moderator Amir Kamyabnejad. (Philosophers' Café is a series of informal public discussions in libraries, cafés, and restaurants throughout Metro Vancouver.)

Mousersize: Afraid of mice (and other computer pieces)? Join PMPL librarians on Tuesday, Sept. 24 for a hands-on "Mousersize" class covering basic computer mouse and keyboard skills. There is an afternoon class from 2 to 3 p.m. and another in the evening from 7 to 8 p.m. Space is limited so call 604-469-4577 to reserve a computer.

Baby Sing and Learn (drop-in): Parents or caregivers and their children up to age 18 months are welcome to drop-in to PMPL's Baby Sing and Learn sessions on Wednesday afternoons or Thursdays mornings. This is an interactive program of songs, rhymes and stories that encourages bonding and promotes early speech and language development. There is time for adult conversation afterward. Wednesday sessions are from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and start on Sept. 25 while Thursday sessions run from 11 to 11:45 a.m. and start Sept. 26.

Pre-school Storytime (drop-in): Get ready to read on Wednesdays from 10 to 10:30 a.m. starting on Sept. 25. PMPL's Pre-school Storytimes feature stories and songs for children 18 months to five years; parent/caregiver participation is required.

Raising Great Readers: Learn how to raise a child who loves to read at Terry Fox on Sept. 24. You are your child's first and best teacher. Whether your child is six weeks old or six years old, you have the tools to help them become a great reader. Find out more about the importance of early literacy and how you can nurture pre-reading skills at home. All participants will go home with a free children's book. The session runs from 7 to 8 p.m. and registration has already begun.
