National Film Board of Canada Friday Afternoon at the Movies: Documentaries from the NFB are screened in the Nancy Bennett Room at the Poirier branch. Next Friday, Feb. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m., you can watch The People of the Kattawpiskak River (75 minutes); Alanis Obomsawin's documentary exposes the housing crisis faced by 1,700 Cree in northern Ontario, a situation that led the band's chief to ask the Canadian Red Cross for help.

Hidden job market: Gillian Kirk of Avia Employment Services will offer information whether you are just starting out in the world of work or wanting to try a new career. The free program runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Poirier branch. To register, leave a message at 604-937-4155.

Protect yourself from identity theft: Port Moody Police Const. Luke van Winkel will present an informative program on how to protect yourself from identity theft, one of the fastest growing types of fraud. How often do you change your passwords? Are you giving too much information when entering contests? This information session runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27. Space is limited; call 604-469-4577 to reserve a seat.

Try "Just Ask" to chat live with a librarian and get an answer. Inlet Book Club: Drop in to talk about a variety of books on the first Wednesday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. On March 5, the club will be discussing Hateship, Friendship, Courtship & Marriage by Nobel Prize-winning Canadian author Alice Munro. New members are always welcome.
