Facebook contest: CPL is running a Facebook contest until May 31 - all you have to do is "like" the library on Facebook to win. CPL is giving away $20 gift cards to five lucky people. If you previously "liked" the library, you are also automatically entered. Then, starting June 1, one winner will be announced each day. Not only will you automatically be entered to win gift cards from Best Buy, Chapters and Starbucks, you'll receive the latest from the library on your Facebook Newsfeed. Stay informed of future contests, new books/DVDs/CDs, and free programs for adults, teens and kids. See the official contest rules in the Notes section of their Facebook page. On display: CPL is inviting local artists to exhibit their works in display cases at both the Poirier and City Centre branches. Also welcome are local historical groups and craft associations. Audiobooks: You can download Audiobooks with OneClickdigital - no waits, no holds, always available, 24/7. OneClickdigital is a new service that provides access to thousands of full-length titles you can listen to on your computer (PC or Mac) or download directly to your iPad, smart phone or tablet with the OneClickdigital app. Check it out under "Digital Content" at library.portmoody.ca.

Keep your Heritage Language Alive: Does your family speak a heritage language? Help your child stay in touch with their roots with PMPL's Links to Language Multilingual Kits. Each kit contains 10 pre-school-level books and a CD/DVD in one of five heritage languages: Chinese, Korean, Farsi, Spanish and French. An included resource manual provides tips on building early literacy skills in both English and the heritage language. Borrow a kit today.

Art exhibits: Through the end of May, PMPL is exhibiting the paintings of Darrell Shibley. Darrell's creative influence is the interaction between nature and human development. As well, the pen-and-ink drawings of Rose Kapp are featured in the display case for the month.

Comic drawing workshop: Get creative and create your own amazing piece of comic art as you join artist Carla Dearman in this two-session workshop to learn cool tips and techniques to make your own comic. Dearman will cover important skills such as character design, page layout and composition, figure drawing, inking and more. This program is open to kids in Grades 8 to 12 and takes place on May 18 and 25, 2 to 3 p.m. Registration is appreciated.
