That's why it's important to develop your estate plan to help shape the future and ensure that your wishes remain intact. CPL hosts financial advisor James Leung of Edward Jones, who will offer information on strategies to consider for preserving everything you've worked hard to build. The session runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 in the Nancy Bennett Room at the Poirier branch. Participants will learn: the value of having an estate plan beyond a simple will; four key building blocks for an effective estate plan; and what to consider when creating or updating their plan. New Year, New Gadgets - iPads and iPhones: Join librarians Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to learn about iPads and iPhones as part of the New Year, New Gadgets series. PMPL has a variety of classes where you can explore the basics, find out what apps to download and learn to use the library's eBooks and eMagazines. Space is limited; call 604-469-4577 to register.

Share your story: Starting Jan. 13 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., older adults can share a bit of their life story in this free eight-week digital storytelling workshop. Learn about script writing and storyboard creation as well as how to add the music, sounds and photos that help bring your story to life. Presented in partnership with SFU Faculty of Education. Tech Café: Sit down with a teen volunteer for free one-on-one help with your basic computer questions. Drop in to the ParkLane Room on Fridays from Jan. 16 to May 15 (but not March 13 or 20, or April 3) between 4:30 and 6 p.m. for help with a variety of technology basics such as email, smartphones, texting, Microsoft Office and more.

New Year, New Gadgets - eReaders: On Thursday, Jan. 15 from 2 to 3 p.m. you can learn about eReaders and how to download eBooks as part of our New Year, New Gadgets series. Space is limited; call 604-469-4577 to register.

Design a card: You are invited by the city's Arts and Culture Committee and the Port Moody Library Board to design the next generation of PMPL's adult library card. Jan. 12 is the deadline for Tri-City residents of all ages to submit their original artwork for consideration. Three designs will be selected as finalists and the public will be invited to vote for their favourite in February. The winning design will receive a $500 cash prize and be imprinted on approximately 10,000 library cards. A $100 prize will be awarded to each of the two runners-up. Save your money: Saving for the future is an important and sometimes difficult task. But there are experts available to help you make the right decision about your finances. Terry Fox will host an informative session on Saturday, Jan. 17 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. about RRSPs and TFSAs with an expert from Vancity financial institution.

Family Literacy Day bingo: Celebrate Family Day with an evening of family fun as librarians host a variety of bing games at Fox - prizes will be awarded. All are welcome to join the fun on Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
