BOOKS PLUS: Playtime, songs, tech help and deliveries, too

Songs plus: Songs, music and crafts for people of all ages with developmental challenges are part of a fun program hosted by community services librarian Teresa Rehman in the Nancy Bennett Room of the Poirier branch from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29. Play and Learn at Coquitlam Centre: On the last Wednesday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., parents and young children can join librarians at Coquitlam Centre mall (lower level, in front of the Hudson's Bay) for Play and Learn storytimes, songs and crafts. The theme on April 29 is "screen free."

Drop-in tech help: The library is hosting help sessions for your computer and technology questions. Come by with your questions (internet searching, email, eBooks, tablets, social media, etc.) or get help with practising your skills. If you have a tablet or eReader question, bring your device with you. No registration is required. Session is April 29, 2 to 3 p.m., City Centre branch, computer lab.

Twilight Tales (drop-in): Kids can come in their pyjamas and fuzzy slippers for a relaxing half-hour of stories, songs and more. This program is held on the last Tuesday of the month from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and is for kids from birth to six years accompanied by parents or caregivers. The last Twilight Tales of the season is on April 28 in the PMPL Storytelling Circle at Port Moody Library.

Book club for print-disabled/visually impaired: The Ex Libris Talking Book Club is a book discussion group for print-disabled or visually impaired persons but all are welcome. The group meets on the first Friday of each month and the next meeting will be May 1 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the ParkLane Room. Call Renelle for more information at 604-469-4637.

Get Published: Calling all writers: Are you working on a manuscript and need some help with editing and query letters? Are you wondering which publication method is best for you? There are so many choices with traditional, self and e-publishing options available. On Saturday, May 2, PMPL will offer a panel discussion, workshops and opportunities to talk to published authors. Library for You: Can't get to the library? Terry Fox Library will come to you. Library for You services provide materials to people who are unable to visit the library due to illness, age or disability. Services for private residences include delivery of a variety of materials free of charge. Services for facilities include a fine-free collection of a variety of titles for the residents to enjoy. Audiobooks are available to residents with perceptual disabilities. These are delivered free to your facility by mail with the accompanying postage paid return envelope. One-time loans of audiobook players and free demonstrations are available.

If you don't require delivery service, knowledgeable library staff can arrange audiobook player loans as well as help you find a variety of library material to suit your needs.
