Wireless hotspot: Bring your laptop and work online at the Port Moody Library. Settle into a study carrel for a solo study session or talk with your team in PMPL's group study rooms. If you need a quiet space, try the Bob Brown study room, with individual desks and a closed door between you and the busy library space. Study space is in high demand, so come early for your preferred spot.
Exam help: Provincial exams are around the corner for high school students and the library can help. PMPL has study guides for all provincially examinable subjects in all grade levels. The Key Study Guide series has sample questions and exams with answer keys, and is linked to the B.C. curriculum. Port Moody librarians can also help students find sample exams online, so that you can ace your course and enjoy your summer off.

My City, My Words poetry contest: The winners of Port Coquitlam's My City, My Words poetry contest are: in the 18+ category, Wilfred Martin; 12-17 category, Jenny Gu; and in the 12 and under category, Reid Houghton. The winners were invited to read their poems at the PoCo May Day opening ceremonies and received prizes, including a Sony e-reader and gift certificates for Chapters and iTunes. These winning poems are on display at Terry Fox Library. The contest is a joint program with the Terry Fox Library (Fraser Valley Regional Library), city of Port Coquitlam and the PoCo Spirit Committee.

Strange But True?: You can encourage children to investigate great reading this summer by joining Strange But True?, CPL's free 2012 summer reading club. Registration begins June 4 at both branches and members will receive a free reading record and bookmark as well as collect weekly stickers. Kids who complete their reading records will receive special summer reading club medal. As well, there will be a kick-off party on June 23 where children can register for their reading packages and discover the amazing world of Mad Science. Poirier branch registration will take place from 10 to 10:30 a.m., with the show running from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.); City Centre registration will take place from 2 to 2:30 p.m., with the show running from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Coquitlam city hall council chambers (3000 Guildford Way).
