Summer Reading Club medal ceremony: Members of CPL's Summer Reading Club who have read everyday, bring your completed reading record with your name clearly written on the front and receive your medal. The ceremonies, on Sept. 6, run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Poirier branch, 575 Poirier St. If you cannot attend the award ceremony, you can pick up your medal at the City Centre branch's Ask Me desk or the Poirier information desk while supplies last.

CPL is looking for some teen volunteers:

Parlez vous?: French immersion students in elementary or middle school receive language-related assistance from French-speaking teenagers on Fridays from Sept. 12 through Oct. 17, 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. at the Poirier branch.

Homework Help Club: This club needs teen volunteers to help kids in elementary and middle school with homework assignments. It meets Fridays, Oct. 17 to Dec. 12, from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. at the City Centre branch.

Build English Skills: If you're working on building your English skills, Port Moody librarians want to meet you. Join them for the Friday morning English Practice Group from 9:30 to a.m. in the PMPL ParkLane Room. This is a free, drop-in program for adults of all English levels.

Summer Brain Drain?: Get your brain ready for heading back to work or back to school by checking out Learning Express Library. Learning Express provides online tutorials, practice tests, skill-building courses and eBooks to help you learn at your own pace on a variety of topics, including courses on popular software, GED preparation, job search and career information, and much more. You can find this resource on the PoMo Library website under Digital Content.

Global Road Warrior: Planning a trip? Researching a country for a school project? Don't know where to start? Access reliable travel information from the comfort of your home through Global Road Warrior. Visit the Database link found under the Digital Content tab on www.fvrl.ca and click on Travel/Geography.

You can access Global Road Warrior at the Terry Fox Library or log in at home with your library card and four-digit PIN number. Each country features a variety of topics, including visas, climate, travel essentials and points of interest. Find answers to frequently asked travel questions regarding cell phone use, email, electrical plugs, internet, ATMs and more. This database contains current information that you might not find in a travel guide. Global Road Warrior is updated often and current travel warnings and possible disease outbreaks are posted as the situation arises.

Global Road Warrior is also an excellent up-to-date resource for students working on projects about countries. Students will find facts, maps, religion, society, culture and much more. Visit the Terry Fox Library and learn how to explore the world.
