COQUITLAM
Coquitlam Public Library, Dogwood Pavilion and the Council of Senior Citizens’ Organizations of BC will present four free workshops led by trained volunteers. Seniors may register for them all or just the ones that interest them. To reserve your spot, leave a message on the library’s registration line, 604-937-4155. These programs will be held at the library’s Poirier branch:
• Healthy Eating For Seniors: Learn how to use Canada’s revised food guide and food labels to make healthy food choices. Light, healthy snacks will be served. Thursday, Aug. 18, 1 to 3 p.m.
• Medication Awareness: The potential misuse of medications is a growing concern. Find out how you can talk with your doctor and pharmacist to make sure you are taking the right medications at the right time. Thursday, Aug. 18, 7 to 9 p.m.
• Wills and Estate Planning: Learn about the legal rules for preparing wills in B.C., the duties of an executor, legal terminology and pitfalls to avoid. Friday, Aug. 19, 10 a.m. to noon.
• Mature Driver Assessment Procedures: For a variety of reasons, RoadSafetyBC may order seniors to have their driving skills assessed at the age of 80. In this workshop, you will learn how aging may affect driving skills and how people can compensate. The BC assessment process is described in detail and you will find out how drivers can do their best in the various testing situations they may face. Friday, Aug. 19, 1 to 3 p.m.

PORT MOODY
• Books and board games: Drop into PMPL’s children’s area from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 16 for personalized reading recommendations provided by children’s librarians. Find the perfect book for your reader, no matter what their age, interest or reading level. Librarians love to connect kids with books that they can’t put down. While you’re there, join forces with your friends or family and borrow a board game to play in the library. This all-ages program is not supervised, so parents or guardians must stay with children.
• Pyjama Night: Kids of all ages are welcome to come and enjoy an evening of stories, fort building, pillow fights and reading games Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Stuffed animals are invited to sleep over. No registration required.
