Christmas story and crafts for preschoolers: Drop in on Dec. 10 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with your preschooler for Christmas crafts and story fun. Kids ages two to five years with caregivers are welcome.
Celebrate the Season: On Dec. 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., join your friends and neighbours at the Inlet Theatre for an evening of holiday songs, stories and more that's suitable for all ages. This event is drop-in, no registration required, and donations for local food banks will be accepted.
Philosopher's Cafe: Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?: On Dec. 8 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. drop into a special Philosopher's Café at PMPL to discuss a thorny question: Should we say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays"? Moderator Randall MacKinnon will lead participants in a respectful debate around issues like inclusivity vs. political correctness, multiculturalism vs. Canadian heritage, and other challenging ideas. Philosopher's Cafes are free, public events sponsored by SFU Continuing Studies.

'Tis the season for book awards and CPL is offering you a chance to read great fiction and champion your novel of choice.
You can read award-nominated Canadian novels and write up to 250 words explaining why your pick is the best of the bunch. Choose from among the short-listed books in the list below. You don't need to read all the nominated books - just pick one and convince judges that it is worthy of the title Coquitlam's Canadian Read of the Year.
Send your review to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Dec. 19. If the judges think your blog entry makes the most compelling case, you will win a portable, solar-powered power bank to recharge all your digital devices. The eligible novels are:
