North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association is preparing for its fall horseback riding program and needs volunteers to help groom and tack horses and to lead or side walk with riders during their lessons. Horse experience is great but not required. If you enjoy the outdoors, working with people of all abilities and love animals, this is for you. Fraser Health Crisis Line is recruiting volunteers to provide assistance to people in the region who are experiencing emotional distress. No experience is needed as extensive training and ongoing support are provided. Canadian Cancer Society Greater Vancouver Region desperately seeks volunteer drivers in the Tri-Cities to drive cancer patients to primary cancer treatments. Drivers are required to have their own well-maintained, smoke-free vehicle and a clean driving record. Volunteer drivers who use their own car are compensated for mileage. Volunteers need to be available weekdays during business hours. They will be screened and must undergo a short training session, and they are asked to commit to a minimum of one day per week for at least one year. Volunteers must familiarize themselves with the Canadian Cancer Society's programs and services in order to share resources and information with clients. Seniors Services Society needs volunteer drivers (must provide own vehicle) for seniors transportation program. On call up to 4 hours a week to transport and assist senior clients to medical appointments. Volunteers are reimbursed for costs. More drivers are needed for Meals on Wheels (3 hours once a week).
