In the Tri-Cities, there are a few feasts and shows to honour the poet, though tickets are now limited.

Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam) hosts its third annual soiree on Saturday with a Scottish-inspired meal and live entertainment. The supper and concert with Blackthorn - including Place des Arts' fiddling instructor Rosie Carver - are sold out, staff reported on Monday.

As well, the Wilson Centre in Port Coquitlam is recognizing Scotland's most famous son with a luncheon at the seniors' hub (2150 Wilson Ave.) on Jan. 22. Starting at 12:30 p.m., there will be the Address to the Haggis, a piper and music by the Honeycombs. Call 604-927-7970.

At Coquitlam's seniors' centre, Dogwood Pavilion, musician Michelle Carlisle will return for the Burns lunch that runs from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 23. Call Dogwood (624 Poirier St.) at 604-927-6098.

And The SFU pipe band will have its major fundraiser of the year with a dinner and party at the Executive Plaza Hotel (405 North Rd., Coquitlam) on Saturday, Jan. 24. Tickets are $75 via sfupb.com, with proceeds supporting the Robert Malcolm Memorial junior pipe bands.
