On Friday, the city of Port Coquitlam will roll out its giant silver screen for the third time this summer to show The Amazing Spider-Man at Gates Park (located north of Riverside secondary school). The 2012 flick stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as the American superhero (aka Peter Parker) and Gwen Stacy as they fight The Lizard, his father's former business partner.

The event starts at 8:30 p.m. and is sponsored in part by G&F Financial, which is supplying free popcorn and raffle prizes such as super soaker water guns, blankets and movie passes. Visit portcoquitlam.ca.

And on Saturday night, the Port Moody Film Society will host an indoor/outdoor double feature, starting in the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr.) at 7:30 p.m. with The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Also made last year, the movie features Logan Lerman as 15-year-old Charlie coping with his first love (portrayed by Emma Watson), the suicide of his best friend and his own mental illness.

And, at 9:30 p.m., the audience will move to the amphitheatre behind city hall for How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, a 2008 comedy based on Toby Young's memoir about a British writer who tries to fit in at a high-profile magazine in New York City. It stars Kelan Pannell, Simon Pegg and Megan Fox.

Tickets are $5 per film plus a $5 annual membership fee to the society. Visit www.pmfilm.ca.
