Fariba Mirzaie was named last week as the winner of the People's Choice award for the 2013 Wearable Arts competition.

The B.C. resident created Green Tree out of chiffon, polyester and satin that was painted, printed, burned, dyed and embellished.

Mirzaie is the first winner in the contest's history to score three accolades in the same year (she also won the 2012 Award and 2013 Best in Show).

The public had a month to select the winner during an exhibition of the entries at the Port Moody Arts Centre; the annual event was held during Port Moody's centennial year.

Other winners include: Thalassa by Tammy Jane Lepp of Ontario (complete outfit); Cogeneration by Darnia Smith of Kansas (head dress); and Priorities? by Mark Storwick and Jenna Maslechko of Alberta (student).
