Take a peak at private Tri-City gardens, view original art and hear live music Sunday during the first annual Art in the Garden Tour.

Organized by the Port Moody Arts Centre Society, the self-guided tour runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features nine lush gardens - including one in a Japanese style - in Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra, ranging in size from a city lot to a two-acre estate.

At least one or two artists will be exhibiting and selling their wares at each location.

Society spokesperson Des Wilson said the tour is similar to those put on by the arts council in North Vancouver, and in Victoria. And all proceeds will go to support the arts locally, he said.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the PoMo Arts Centre (2425 St. John's St.); Art Knapp (1300 Dominion Ave., Port Coquitlam); Backyard Bird Centre (Newport Village); and Thrifty Foods (Suter Brook).

As an added bonus, the society will offer $100 in a contest for the best photograph submitted of the tour.

Meanwhile, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, a free art and garden fair will happen at PMAC that will include a plant and garage sale, a silent auction, and artists' and a mason bee demonstrations. Among the goods up for grabs are jewellery, paintings and wood carvings, including from former Port Moody mayor David Driscoll. Three master gardeners from Vancouver's famed Van Dusen Botanical Gardens will also be on hand to answer questions from green-thumbs.
