It's a provincial Pro-D Day next Friday and that means parents need to keep their kids busy. Luckily, three Tri-City arts centres have sessions available - and with a Halloween twist.

On Friday, Oct. 25, Port Moody Arts Centre has the day-long Monster Mash Clay and Freaky Friday Art Clay, both for children aged six to 12. Students in Monster Mash will be in the clay studio to create pottery and sculpture projects and, after a supervised lunch break, they will build a clay-land together. And for Freaky Friday, children will be in the art studio to work on Halloween-themed projects. Parents are asked to pack a lunch and snacks, and supply outdoor gear for the young participants. To sign up, call 604-931-2008 or visit pomoarts.ca.

Over in Coquitlam, Evergreen Cultural Centre is offering Halloween Masquerade from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. next Friday. Kids aged seven to 14 can create a spooky mask with card, paper, ink, pastel and paint or build plasticine creatures. Call 604-927-6555 or visit evergreenculturalcentre.ca.

And Place des Arts has a few spots open for students in Grades 3 to 5 for Monsters and Mayhem. Kids can learn to draw and paint the pumpkin patch, and write and design ghoulish comics, among other things. Call 604-664-1636 or visit placedesarts.ca.
