An abstract artist who uses a range of media for her work - including cold wax - will show her technique in Port Coquitlam next week.

Kathleen Menges will be the feature artist at a public demonstration on Wednesday, Sept. 25 hosted by the Art Focus Artists' Association. The event will take place at 7 p.m. in The Outlet in the Leigh Square Community Arts Village (behind PoCo city hall).

Besides cold wax, the Abbotsford resident has studied sculpture, trompe l'oeil, encaustics, painting and Ikebana, Japanese floral arranging.

Meanwhile, the paintings of Tammy Pilon are on display this month at the Port Moody Public Library (100 Newport Dr.).

Pilon has studied all media but concentrates on watercolours layered with acrylics for her landscapes. A teacher at the Port Moody Arts Centre, Pilon is best known for her community murals - the most recent being on the side of the Crossroads Hospice thrift store.
