A Port Moody artist says he's "clearing house" for the Evergreen Line.

David Bizzo is selling about 100 artworks - original paintings, giclees and prints, about half of which he created - over the long weekend at his studio in the old Andres Winery.

After two years there, Bizzo will vacate the building at 2120 Vintner St., off Clarke Street, by Labour Day to make way for the provincial government, which will take over next Tuesday to turn the facility into a staging area to build the new rapid transit line to Coquitlam. The Evergreen Line is expected to be running by the summer of 2016.

"It's been a good space to work in," Bizzo said during a tour last week. "The light is good and there's a lot of history. It's a very inspiring place."

Still, Bizzo said he's equally exciteds about his new digs: He'll be opening up Spring Street Studios on the ground level of the Burrard Public House (formerly Jake's Crossing Pub).

The business - comprised of six studio spaces and a small public gallery - will be in the old liquor store on the ground level, which was also once the Talk of the Town cabaret. "We're hoping we'll be the talk of the town in the City of the Arts," quipped Bizzo, who heads up the Burrard Inlet Artists' Association, a non-profit organization.

The 2,000-square foot area in Moody Centre is due to open by January 2013 - the city's centennial year.

The art sale runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3, noon to 5 p.m. at 2120 Vintner St. Artists wanting to rent out space at Spring Street Studios can call 778-227-8480.
