Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox Theatre, in partnership with School District 43, will host the next installment of PechaKucha Night in the Tri-Cities.
Theatre general manager Mandara Lebovitz is looking for speakers for the Nov. 21 showcase who can talk about the hobbies and dreams - in under 6.5 minutes, complete with photos.
Candidates are asked to submit a 50-word biography describing their background as well as a 100-word summary about the presentation topic. And 20 high-resolution photos in a PowerPoint or Zip file format are also required to be juried.

Acoustic gypsy jazz will be on the menu next Wednesday at a Port Moody eatery.
The Gallery Bistro (2411 Clarke St.) will serve up the Stringz Aloud Trio - Susan Vigneux, Don Kellett and Joe Bourchier - with special guest Michael Dunn, a jazz guitarist with the Vancouver band Hot Club of Mars, at the Aug. 27 show at 7:30 p.m.

GIRLZ PARTEE
Tickets are now on sale for the wildly popular Girls Night Out, a fundraiser for the Port Moody Arts Centre.
The event, billed as an "evening of comedy by women, for women" takes place Friday, Oct. 3 at Port Moody city hall (100 Newport Dr.).
It is sponsored by Scotiabank, which will match funds from tickets bought through their St. John's Street branch (across the street from PMAC); the branch is accepting cash payments only. Visit pomoarts.ca.
CALL FOR ARTISTS
Artists who make tiny objects are invited to take part in this year's Positively Petite exhibit at a Coquitlam gallery.
Place des Arts wants artists to showcase their small wares in the annual display that will run Nov. 13 to Dec. 19 - just in time for the holiday shopping season.
Works in any media are eligible and may be two- or three-dimensional. And artists applying for the first time for Positively Petite will have their pieces juried.
The entry deadline is Oct. 20. Returning artists are asked to deliver their work (with artwork identification cards attached) between Nov. 3 and 9. All works are for sale and artists set prices for their works; Place des Arts retains 30% of the retail price.

LA LA LA
A provincial girls' choir made up of young singers - including Port Moody's Jennifer (Wei-Shen) Hsieh - and around Metro Vancouver now has spots open for its next season.
The BC Girls Choir is accepting singers aged five to young adult for the new academic year, starting in September. Led by Fiona Blackburn, the ensemble recently performed at the Oregon Bach Festival and the Pacific International Children's Choral Festival.
On the upcoming program is a Christmas concert with the band of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment and spring shows with the Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir and the PROMYS Honour Choir, which is part of the Chor Leoni Men's Choir. And in the summer will be a tour through Germany, Austria, Croatia and Slovenia.
