High school students in the Tri-Cities can shape the future of the arts by joining a new youth arts council.

High school students in the Tri-Cities can shape the future of the arts by joining a new youth arts council.

Grade 9 to 12 students can be Place des Arts' ambassadors by helping with programming as well as at outreach events such as festivals and next year's Youth Arts Week. Participants will be mentored by local arts professionals.

"Our goal is to foster a deeper level of engagement in young people, not only at Place des Arts but also in the community at large," said Joan Roberts, the executive director of the Maillardville facility. "This is an exciting opportunity for local youth to become an integral part of the arts community and to really have their voices heard."

The registration deadline is Monday, Aug. 19. To download an application form, go to www.placedesarts.ca (under Support Us). Call 604-664-1636 (ext. 36) or email [email protected] for more information.
