A one-man show about an out-of-work actor during Shakespearean times will be performed by Christopher Hunt this week.
Starting Thursday, Hunt will portray 25 characters in the production What That I Was... at Coquitlam's Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way).
The narrative zeros in on Jack Rice, an old man who once was part of William Shakespeare's acting company.
Tickets are available by calling the Evergreen box office at 604-927-6555 or visiting evergreenculturalcentre.ca.
READ A BOOK, WIN A PRIZE
Read Can Lit and win a prize from the Coquitlam Public Library this season.
Librarians are asking residents to find the best award-nominated Canadian novel of 2014 and to write up to 250 words explaining why it's your favourite.
Among the works of fiction are those shortlisted for this year's Governor General's Literary Award, Giller Prize, Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize or the works nominated for the CBC Reads contest this year.
You don't need to read all the nominated books - just pick one and convince the judges that it's worthy of the title "Coquitlam's Canadian Read of the Year."
Send a review to [email protected] by Dec. 19 at 5 p.m.
The first-place winner will get a portable solar-powered power bank to recharge digital devices while the runner-up will receive three new novels; the third-place contestant gets a box of Purdy's chocolates.
Visit the library's book review blog, I Was Told There'd Be Cake, at coqlibrary.ca for details.
