Parents wanting to know what to do with their kids on Pro-D day next week can sign up their young monsters for a "spooktacular" camp in Coquitlam.

On Oct. 19 from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Place des Arts is offering a number of visual and performing art classes with a Hallowe'en theme for children in Kindergarten to Grade 5.

Participants can create spiders and clay and felted bat caves as well as try out Taiko drums, and take part in drama adventures and musical theatre programs.

The "Day of the Arts" camp is split in six day-long blocks of activities divided into three age groups: Kindergarten; Kindergarten to Grade 2; and Grades 3 to 5. To register, visit the Maillardville facility at 1120 Brunette Ave., call 604-664-1636 or visit www.placedesarts.ca.

Meanwhile, Second Storey Theatre in Port Coquitlam will host Vamprov - vampires versus humans - on Friday and Saturday nights this month.

The family-friendly Halloween show will lead the audience through stories, songs and games. "Halloween is about being a little bit scary, getting dressed up and having a lot of fun," said artistic director Graham Myers, in a news release.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up, especially for the last two shows on Oct. 26 and 27 when there will be a costume contest with prizes.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the performance at 8 p.m. For tickets at $12/$10 (or get two-for-one entry if you also bring a friend in costume), visit www.secondstoreytheatre.com.
