X-MAS FACTOR
A young Port Coquitlam singer will be in the finale at the X-mas Factor competition, which is part of the Vancouver Christmas Market.
Kyla Kinna, 13, will perform on Saturday after being shortlisted earlier this month following her rendition ofAll I Want for Christmas is You. The winner of the all-ages contest will get $5,000 towards a music career. The market, which runs until Dec. 24, is in the plaza at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (649 Cambie St., at Georgia).
EMERGING
The deadline for Tri-City secondary students to submit entries into the Emerging Talent Film Festival is approaching.
Grade 9 to 12 students have until Jan. 2 at 5 p.m. to apply their eight-minute long pieces - including narrative films, documentaries, music videos, animations, public service announcements and commercials - to the fest.
The entries will be judged by Jeremy Lutter, Pia Massie and Eva Wunderman and awards will be handed out for the following categories: best direction, editing, cinematography, original screenplay, performance, sound design and film (judges' choice and audience pick). ROCKY 'N ROLL
Rocky Milino Jr., a graduate of Port Coquitlam's Archbishop Carney regional secondary school, has a new music video out for Christmas.

Tri-City arts groups and centres are serving up Christmas goodies to promote their shows in the new year.
Stage 43 Theatrical Society has 12 Days of Christmas, running until Friday, where special offers are being posted to its website (www.stage43.org) and Twitter account (@stage43theatre).

DIGITAL FUTURE
The deadline has been extended for Port Coquitlam residents - past and present - to submit their futuristic vision of the community.
The digital illumination exhibit will be part of the city's centennial celebrations next year and will be shown at the PoCo recreation complex until March 2013.
Entries can be any art medium - pencil, paint, mixed media, clay, digital art, animation, etc. - that depicts the future, and another artwork of what the future shouldn't look like.

SHIFT TO VAN.
A Port Moody theatre company will remount Nate and Troy: The Next Big Things at the Carousel Studio Theatre in Vancouver next month.
SHIFT Theatre, which is known in the Tri-Cities for presenting its annual 1-Act Festival at the Inlet Theatre, will put on the cabaret-style show at the Granville Island venue Jan. 25 and 26 and Feb. 1.
The show is penned by Nathan Kelly and Troy Cherkowski, who met doing community theatre in Coquitlam more than 10 years ago.
"Nate and Troy's show was one of the best received works in this year's 1-Act Festival, and left audiences buzzing with excitement after each performance," said artistic managing director Nick Sartore, in a news release.
