Arts in brief: Nature exhibit, book launch

A new painting and photo exhibit looking at the various shapes, colours and textures in nature will launch next Thursday in Port Coquitlam. Ken McRae and Therese Lydia-Joseph will host an opening reception for their new show from 7 to 9 p.m.

A new painting and photo exhibit looking at the various shapes, colours and textures in nature will launch next Thursday in Port Coquitlam.

Ken McRae and Therese Lydia-Joseph will host an opening reception for their new show from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leigh Square Community Arts Village, behind PoCo city hall.

In their display, titled Mystique, McRae narrows his lens on the details of plants while Joseph interprets her flora with acrylic paints and pastels.

BOOK LAUNCH

A Port Coquitlam novelist will read from her latest work at the Terry Fox Library next Saturday.

Margaret Gunning will talk about The Glass Character - the story of a girl's infatuation with a silent film star - as part of the Tri-City Wordsmiths monthly meeting at the PoCo library (2470 Mary Hill Rd.) from 2 to 4 p.m. Books will be available for sale.

Ready for the summer?

Pacific Coast Terminals has its line-up of musical acts for its Rocky Point Park stage in July and August, with the powerhouse band Brickhouse closing the series again.
