The oil painting shows Moore wearing his mayoral chain and in his city hall office, with a print of hometown hero Terry Fox on the wall.

Several current and former Tri-City residents in the Lower Mainland theatre scene are up for an Ovation Award this weekend.
Eagle Mountain middle student Julia MacLean, 13, of Port Moody, is nominated for Outstanding Lead Performance - Female for her starring role in Annie: The Musical, the 25th anniversary production for the Royal City Musical Theatre (RCMT) that was directed and choreographed by Port Coquitlam's Valerie Easton. Annie is one of five shows nominated in the Outstanding Community Production - Large Theatre category.
Also in the same category is Align Entertainment, which put on its first production last year (Shrek) and is run by such Tri-City talent as Chad Matchette (Lindbjerg Academy) and Brent Hughes. A music teacher at Dr. Charles Best secondary, Hughes is also nominated for Outstanding Music Direction in Shrek while Matchette is nominated for Outstanding Direction.
Meanwhile, Gleneagle secondary graduate and former Port Moody resident Allison Fligg is a nominee in the category of Outstanding Chorus Gypsy - Female for Shrek (TUTS) and Crazy For You (Gateway). And Matt Palmer, who grew up in Maillardville, has a nomination in Outstanding Lead Performance - Male for his portrayal of the ogre in Shrek (TUTS).
Former Coquitlam resident Scott Perrie also has a shot for an Ovation in the Outstanding Supporting Performance - Male for his part in Spamalot (Arts Club Theatre).
The 11th annual Ovation Awards will be presented on Sunday, Jan. 18 at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
DISTRICT REPS
Students from Terry Fox secondary will represent School District 43 this spring at the Sears provincial drama festival.
Last month, the Port Coquitlam high school was picked by adjudicator Susan Bertoia at MetFest for its presentation of Women and Wallace.
Directed by drama teacher Dan Tilsley, the cast includes: Adam Bach, Moriah Davey, Vanessa Locke, Hailey Kragelj, Sam Stouten, Laura Carpentier, Sydney Scott, Natalia Dziekciowski and Lakeerrah Roseman.
The one-act play centres on the character of Wallace who, as a child, finds his dead mother after a suicide.
Equilibrium, directed by Heritage Woods secondary teacher Shanda Walters, was named the runner-up at MetFest, which was hosted by Riverside secondary.

OPEN CALL
Auditions will be held on Jan. 24 in Coquitlam for young thespians wanting to be part of a Theatrix production this season.
The Coquitlam company, which is now in its 24th year, is calling for young actors between the ages of six and 12 to sign up for The Velveteen Rabbit, a musical that will tour schools in May; no previous acting experience is required. Rehearsals are on Saturdays from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Dogwood Pavilion (624 Poirier St.), with extra rehearsals added after spring break.
Meanwhile, starting this month, the society will run drama classes for children aged four to 13, also at Dogwood. Tiny Troupers (ages four to six) is from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays while Acting Mania (ages nine to 13) is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
And on Thursday afternoons, at Pinetree community centre, Theatrix hosts Playtime Theatre for kids aged seven and eight.

Kids aged six to 12 can sign up for afternoon visual arts classes this season at the Port Moody Arts Centre.
Instructor Kimberly Blackstock is leading four courses for kids on Mondays and Fridays: Acrylic Painting Foundation and Exploration; Creating Landscapes and Florals in Acrylic; and Modern Arts for the Modern Child (introduction and progressive).
