Art and nature will go hand-in-hand this weekend at two cutural festivals in the Tri-Cities.

The fourth annual Art in the Park at Coquitlam's Minnekhada regional park - hosted by the Minnekhada Park Association and Metro Parks - runs Saturday (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), with displays from 32 visual artists around Metro Vancouver as well as live music and roving performances in and around the historic Minnekhada Lodge.

And there will be lots of opportunities for children to join arts and crafts workshops during the two-day event, said MPA spokesperson and photographer Manfred Kraus.

Art in the Park is sponsored by Heritage Canada, Vancity and Thirfty Foods.

Admission is free and visitors can catch a free shuttle at the Quarry Road parking lot. To get there from Lougheed Highway in Port Coquitlam, turn north onto Coast Meridian Road, travel 2.5 km and turn right on Victoria Drive; keep left on Victoria to Quarry Road. Park at the lot at Quarry Road entrance.

Also on Saturday - but on the other side of the Tri-Cities - the Canadian Sound Therapy Arts Society hosts the Burrard Inlet Fish Fest at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody.

Organizers promise live music, First Nations performances, art and creative workshops at the festival, which runs 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and builds awareness and raises funds for the Burrard Inlet Marine Enhancement Society.
