International Artist Day will be celebrated at the Port Moody Arts Centre on Wednesday with a "pop-up event."

Art organizers have invited dozens of Tri-City craftspeople to the St. John's Street facility to make artist trading cards on Oct. 24.

The public can drop in between 5 and 8 p.m. to watch the action unfold. The small, original artworks are not meant to sold but traded for other pieces.

The session comes a day before the designated International Artist Day on Oct. 25, Pablo Picasso's birthday. The grassroots movement, which is supported by Port Moody Mayor Mike Clay and his City of the Arts, aims to connect communities through art.
