David Sands's No Effects at the Leigh Square Community Arts Village is a vibrant comic book-style exhibition, often using humorous imagery to "explore how the world around us helps define who we are," the artist said. "My paintings touch on topics ranging from the effects of social media on our personal space to issues with gun control."

One series uses Luchadors to explore brand versus personal identity, he added.

Inspired by SKA and punk music as well as Pop Art and Surrealism, Sands' art work will be on show until Dec. 3; an opening reception will be held on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Leigh Square (located by PoCo city hall).
