A wind ensemble will stretch Valentine's into this week with a concert dedicated to all things French.
The Coquitlam-based Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble will host a show titled Vive La France on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way.)
Saxophonist David Branter, the music department head at Vancouver Community College, will conduct the group on pieces that include Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein, En Bateau from Petite Suite by Claude Debussy and Pavane for a Dead Princess by Maurice Ravel.
There will also be works performed by Jacques Offenbach, Oscar Peterson, Darius Milhaud and Norman dello Joio.

Meanwhile, the second show in Port Coquitlam's 14th annual Sunday Coffee Concerts series will happen this Sunday, with a performance by the VOC Soul Gospel Choir.
The 130-member group that sings at blend of Hawaiian, Calypso, Reggae Soul, R&B and jazz will belt out its six-part harmony on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Terry Fox Theatre (1260 Riverwood Gate).

The concert series, which is sponsored in part by The Tri-City News, continues March 1 with Genticorum as part of Festival du Bois in Coquitlam. Other shows lined up are on March 10 (Karin Plato Quintet) and March 24 (The Dal Richards Band).
